Welcome to NCACVSO Forum

A private space for North Carolina County Veterans Service Officers to share knowledge, ask questions, and support one anothe

This forum is exclusively for active NCACVSO members. What you read here stays here. What you share here helps a fellow VSO serve a veteran better.

Whether you have twenty years of experience or you started last month, your perspective belongs in this room. No question is too basic. No situation is too unusual. The collective knowledge of VSOs across all one hundred counties is one of the most valuable resources this organization has, and this forum is where that knowledge lives.

Post when you have a question. Reply when you have an answer. And when you are not sure, say so. That honesty is what makes this forum useful.

Forum Rules
  1. Keep it professional. You represent your county and your office. Write the way you would speak in a room full of colleagues. Disagreement is welcome. Disrespect is not.
  2. Protect veteran privacy. Never post a veteran's full name, Social Security number, claim number, or any combination of details that could identify a specific individual. If you need to describe a case for advice, change the names and remove identifying details. This is not optional.
  3. Stay on topic. This forum exists to help VSOs do their jobs better. Posts should relate to veterans services, county operations, NCACVSO business, benefits claims, regulations, training, or office management. Personal promotions, political commentary, and off-topic content do not belong here.
  4. Share what you know. If someone asks a question and you have handled a similar situation, reply. Even a partial answer helps. Point people toward the right form, the right regulation, or the right person to call. A five-minute reply from you could save someone else five hours.
  5. Cite your sources when it matters. If you reference a regulation, a VA directive, or a policy change, include the document number or a link when possible. Secondhand information without a source can lead another VSO down the wrong path.
  6. Do not share login credentials or access to this forum with anyone outside your county office. Forum access is tied to your individual NCACVSO membership. If someone in your office needs access, the primary contact can add them through the Manage Staff page.
  7. No solicitation or sales. Do not use the forum to promote products, services, businesses, or paid events. If you have found a tool or resource that genuinely helps your office, you may mention it, but keep the tone informational, not promotional.
  8. Report problems, do not escalate them. If you see a post that violates these rules or makes you uncomfortable, contact NCACVSO at ncacvsotreasurer@gmail.com rather than confronting the poster publicly. The admin team will handle it.

Confidentiality Reminder

This forum is a closed, members-only space. Content posted here should not be copied, screenshotted, or forwarded outside the NCACVSO membership without the original poster's permission. Treat every post the way you would treat a conversation in a closed meeting. When colleagues feel safe sharing, everyone benefits.
